I
got in contact with Jowood to find out more about Hotel Giant.
Find out more about the game in our exclusive interview with the developers
of the game.
Which
countries has Hotel Giant had most of an impact in?
At
the moment we are satisfied with the sales both in Europe and the
US. It jumped to No. 1 in Swiss in the first week, and was very
successful in France too. However, it seems the game has a very
good start in the US market and we are exited about this, since
its a rather difficult market for European publishers.
Are
you pleased with the game's success?
We
are received tremendously good feedback from our distribution
partners. At amazon.com Hotel Giant / Maximum Capacity is at the
moment at No. 24 of all PC titles. So yes, we are very pleased =).
This
game is a long runner, which we believe will sell a rather
constant number over a longer period of time, instead of selling a
tremendous amount at once.
How
would you say Hotel Giant is different to other Management games?
The
unique feature which makes this game so much fun is the
"voyeur" element. It's just great to watch your guests
over the course of the day. They go for dinner in the restaurants,
take a break in the wellness center, relax at the gambling rooms,
read a book in the library or just chill out at the bars. It's
very much like a fishtank, besides you can control the
satisfaction of your customers down to the last detail. So
basically you can play the game and dont deal with the management
at all, if you like to. Just build the hotel of your dreams and
watch guests coming and going. Of course, the financial success
only comes with careful planning and intelligent decisions on how
you like to run your business. What I havent seen so far also in
those type of games is the market research feature. It gives you a
good overview on what groups of guests appearantly visit the city
and which features they are interested in a hotel.
